32 oz of Strawberries
2 1/3 c. of Bisquik
½ c. of milk
3 tbsp of sugar
3 tbsp of melted butter
½ cup of sugar
1 quart of heavy whipping cream with 2 tbsp of sugar
Ah, Strawberry season, what a wonderful time of year. You can always tell when the best time to buy strawberries is, the smell escapes from the carton as you select which one will go home with you. Strawberry Shortcakes are a fantastic way to start off the strawberry season right. The first thing we did was stir together the bisquik, milk, 3 tbsp of sugar, and the melted butter, the batter should turned to a thick goopy texture. On a greased cookie sheet, drop heaping tablespoons of batter about an inch apart. We got 11 biscuits out of our mix but you could make more or less depending on the size you want. Bake the shortcakes for 10 minutes until they’re golden brown on top. While the shortcakes are baking wash and slice the strawberries cutting the tops off first, then mix them with the remaining sugar to make them sweet. Don’t even think about using cool whip for this recipe, making homemade whipped cream takes about a minute and it’s delicious. Pour the cream into the bowl and beat it on high speed with an electric mixer and add sugar to taste. Finally, slice the cakes in half add whip cream on the bottom then add strawberries, we fit about four slices on each and add another dollop of whipped cream and top with the other half of the cake. Now enjoy!
2 ¼ c. Flour
¾ c. sugar
¾ c. brown sugar
2 eggs
2 sticks of butter
1 tsp. vanilla
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking powder
I bag (12 oz.) of chocolate chips
Tired of those store bought chips ahoy? Try something simple and easy by making homemade chocolate chip cookie, a classic example of an American favorite. First, we preheated the oven to 375 degrees. Then starting with all the dry ingredients, we mixed the flour, salt, and baking powder in small bowl. In a separate bowl we creamed the butter, sugar, brown sugar, and vanilla, then beat in the eggs one at a time until fully incorporated. Now, working in small parts, we mixed in all the dry ingredients and finally stirred in the chocolate chips. On a greased cookie sheet, we took 1 Tbsp cookie dough and rolled them into balls, we then placed them about 2 inches apart on the sheet. Finally, we placed the cookies in the oven and let them bake for 9-11 minutes until they are golden brown on the edges.
1 12 ounce bag of Chocolate Chips
1 8 ounce can of sweetened condensed milk
Aluminum foil
8x8 pan
Fudge is one of the quickest and easiest desserts you can make, whether you’re in a time crunch or just new to the baking scene and all you need are two ingredients! To start, fill a pot with about 2 inches of water and put it on the stove to simmer. Next, find a bowl that will sit on top of the pot without touching the water to create a double boiler, pour the whole bag of chocolate chips in here. Making sure not to get any water into the bowl, stir the chocolate until it is completely melted then take the bowl off the heat so it doesn’t burn. Working quickly so the chocolate doesn’t set up, stir in the sweetened condensed milk until it is completely combined and pour the fudge into the foil-lined pan. You may need a friends help to hold the bowl so you can get every bit of fudge out of it. Put the pan into the freezer and in about 3 hours your fudge will have set and be ready to cut and enjoy. We tried this recipe with two different types of chocolate, semi-sweet and milk chocolate and peanut butter mix. The semisweet chocolate set up harder than the peanut butter, which was more like the traditional fudge you’d find at a carnival. Next time we try this recipe were going to layer the flavors on top of each other so we can have the best of both.
What you need:
24 Strawberries
24 Skewers
2 Styrofoam Blocks
12 oz of white chocolate
6oz of milk chocolate
Red food dye
Zip lock bag
Too cheap to buy roses? Not a problem! Instead of the traditional rose or chocolate covered strawberry we chose to combine the two and make chocolate covered strawberries that look like roses. Okay obviously the first thing we did was wash and dry our strawberries then we placed them on individual skewers. We then took our 12 oz of white chocolate and double boiled it until it was nice and melted. If you don’t own a double boiler like us, you can boil a pot of water and then put a glass bowl on top until the chocolate melts. When the chocolate was melted we added a couple of drops of red food dye and mixed it until it was a smooth shade of light pink. We then submerged the strawberries and twirled them around in the melted pool of chocolate until they were evenly covered. In order to let the strawberries dry we stuck the skewers in Styrofoam blocks (they can be purchased at a florist ). Once the chocolate had hardened on our strawberries we took the remainder of our melted chocolate, dyed it a dark red and added it in to a zip lock bag that we had cut in order to pipe up the side of the “rose” forming a swirl. Finally when all of the “roses” were decorated and cooled we tied the skewers together, laid tissue paper flat out and wrapped up our treat the same way a florist would have.
Pie in a jar!
What you need:
Pie in a jar was hands down the coolest thing I’ve ever made. While it may look kind of complicated, it was surprisingly easy and fun too. We made our pies apple, by dicing up nine large red apples and mixing ¾ of cup of sugar, ¾ teaspoon ground cinnamon, and just a dash of lemon juice to keep the apples white. The first thing we did after we made the filling was rinse the mason jars with water, once the jars were dry, we used the top of the jar to cut a circle out of the pie crust. The circle served as the bottom of the crust, to get the bottom in we laid it flat over the top of the jar and used the back of an ice cream scooper, so it would land gently on the bottom. We then ripped large pieces of crust out and place it around the sides of the jar using our fingers to even it out. Once the jar was covered in crust we filled it with pie filling almost to the top leaving only about an inch of space. Making the top of the crust was the same as making the bottom, use the lid to cut a circle, only this time before placing the top on we used a knife to cut a heart into it, which added an intimate feel to the jar. Once all the jars were filled we placed them on a cookie tray and put them in the oven at 375 degrees for 45 minutes. After the pies were finished and cooled, we decided to add a personal touch to them by wrapping them with blue and green ribbon. The whole process was really fun and the cool thing about the pies is you can freeze them and eat them later !

Let’s see how this goes…
So for our wise project we decided to do a baking blog ( kind of like Julie & Julia but way cooler) But basically we’re going to re- create recipes we find and show a step by step how to do it.
Today we chose to make Mum cupcakes.
What you need :
Cake Mix
Mini Marshmallows
Can of Vanilla frosting
Mike & Ike’s
Red Sprinkles
We used regular Betty Crocker cake mix for the cupcakes, after they were done we put a light coat of vanilla frosting over the each cupcake. After we took mini marshmallows and cut them in half diagonally. Then we dipped the sticky side of the marshmallow into red sprinkles. When everything was ready to be placed we placed them on the cupcake in a circular rotation and then placed a red or pink Mike & Ike in the center.
